and the Needle Drops

This is a side of Tyler the Creator we haven't seen before. I think it's rather brilliant. If you're not familiar with Tyler The Creator, he's the ring leader/producer for OFWGKTA, or just Odd Future for short. They are currently on tour. Any who-- this here is Tyler having his first jam session with the band Bad Bad Not Good. This sounds absolutely nothing like Odd Future, but is just too good to not share. Notice the stand up bass, thats just bad ass. You can't beat a stand up bass, phenomenal. Now this isn't what Odd Future sounds like, so don't think this is something you should be considering them. they are a rap collective from California, hell Tyler isn't even 21 yet. I just love this collaboration, the track is called, 'Fish.'

Dub specialist Caspa is coming to the Roxy tomorrow night. He's mostly known for his musical team-ups with Rusko, but has some of the most brilliant mixes of his own. he does a phenomenal track with Rusko called 'Cockney Thug' where he samples some dialogue from the movie 'Snatch,' as well as some lines from the Casper character in the movie 'Kids.' A sick track. Dub is beginning to gain some traction stateside and he's one of the cornerstones of the genre. He isn't just limited to dub though, his latest single, "Fulham to Waterloo" is full-on dance dance dance.

This Wednesday the House of Blues is being taken over by indie music's favorite sons, TV On The Radio. The progressive Brooklyn quintet are bringing an energetic and creative catalog of music with them, some truly incendiary rock music. You will find yourself rocking out, jumping up and down, and tapping your feet as you listen to their songs.

Example is fast becoming one of the world's greatest rappers (outside of the U.S.). He's from England and his latest album, 'Playing In The Shadows,' is on the edge of where hip hop is headed. His beats and production is something akin to electronic dance music, with prominent DJ's like Skream, Chase & Status, Laidback Luke, Dirty South, and for the song below, 'Stay Awake,' produced by Nero. He's bold enough to try something new, and take hip hop into a direction Americans aren't used to. It's not all about posting up against the wall and rocking your shoulders back from side to side. You can get out there, in the front row, and jump around. Get sweaty and have fun, with the music still being relative.

Gym Class Heroes is bringing it back to Orlando this Friday. Riding the wave of their hot single, “Stereo Heart ft Adam Levine (of Maroon 5),” they’ll be taking the stage at the House of Blues. It’s sure to be a packed house full of fans that have been won over by lead singer Travie McCoy’s sharp rap lyrics backed by his bands alternative pop music. Their fan base is continually growing, so don’ be surprised as you listen to them, you’re swept up in the undertow. Tickets are between $25-40.

Fronted by the gorgeous Maja Ivarsson, these Swede rockers take their upbeat rock and throw it out on the floor for their fans to explode into a frenzy. As they make their way through their back catalog all the way to their latest album, Something To Die For, you will fall in love with their progressive musical styling’s. After seeing them you will carry all of that energy and pop it into your headphones or car speakers and find yourself rocking through out the day.

FINALLY, world class DJ’s are becoming local fixtures on a regular basis. We would periodically get Tiesto or other DJ’s coming through town when they were on their way to or from Miami for the Winter Music Conference. In the last year that has all changed with acts like Avicii and The Glitch Mob rolling into town as well as hosting one of the widely successful Electric Daisy Carnivals.
